As a Senior Product Engineer at OpenEd, you'll join a small, high-impact team building innovative education technology solutions. This is a truly unique opportunity to be a founding member of our in-house engineering team as we transition away from agency contractors. You'll work directly with our CTO in a Fullstack capacity with emphasis on frontend technologies, and you'll have significant influence over our technical architecture and implementation approach.

will grow into a team lead role while helping us build a culture of engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain features using React, NextJS, and modern JavaScriptArchitect and implement new product capabilities while improving existing onesLead technical decisions and help establish best practices and coding standardsMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the teamCollaborate with product and design to translate requirements into elegant solutionsImprove engineering processes and contribute to technical strategyParticipate in cross-functional discussions to represent engineering perspectivesBalance technical debt with feature development to ensure sustainable growthHelp establish a strong engineering culture as we build our in-house teamAdhere to all federal, state and/or local regulations, OpenEd policies and procedures, and other compliance obligationLead by example to foster an environment that is supportive of OpenEd’s values and represent OpenEd with a high level of integrity and professionalism.

- About you: You're a seasoned software engineer with a proven track record of building high-quality web applications.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- preferably at early-stage companies or in founding engineering rolesStrong expertise in React, JavaScript and modern frontend developmentEnthusiasm for our missionExperience with NextJS or similar React frameworksUnderstanding of database design and SQL (particularly PostgreSQL)Proven track record of designing and implementing complex featuresExperience mentoring junior developers and guiding technical decisionsSolid understanding of performance optimization and best practicesExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong communication abilities and team collaboration skillsAbility to work effectively in a remote environmentReporting LineThis position reports to the CTO.
