Description
About the Role
Our client is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, security, and compliance of a modern, cloud-based dental practice management platform. The application includes a Ruby on Rails backend and a React frontend. This role will focus on manual and automated testing, improving test coverage, identifying defects, and ensuring software quality throughout the development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate

You will work closely with developers and other stakeholders to identify issues early, strengthen regression testing, and establish reliable quality processes. Since the platform operates in a healthcare environment, a strong understanding of data privacy and the importance of protecting sensitive patient information is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated tests for web applications, APIs, and software integrations.
- Build and maintain automated test suites using Ranorex, Mabl, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
- Perform API testing using Postman or equivalent tools to validate endpoints, integrations, and expected application behavior.
- Conduct functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Collaborate with developers to identify testing requirements, improve test coverage, and prevent regressions.
- Validate critical workflows, including scheduling, provider workflows, patient lookups, authentication, and other dental practice management functions.
- Identify, document, reproduce, and track defects, providing clear steps, environment details, and expected versus actual results.
- Support the development and maintenance of automated quality checks within CI/CD pipelines.
- Review test results and identify gaps in test coverage, reliability, and overall software quality.
- Use AI tools to accelerate test creation, identify coverage gaps, and improve QA workflows.
- Critically review AI-generated tests to ensure assertions, mocks, and test scenarios accurately reflect application behavior.
- Participate in code and pull request reviews to identify potential quality, security, and compliance risks.
- Maintain test documentation, test cases, coverage reports, and QA procedures.
- Work with synthetic and mock data exclusively to prevent exposure of real patient information.
Requirements
- Proven experience in software quality assurance, including both manual and automated testing.
- Hands-on experience with Ranorex, Mabl, Postman, and Selenium or similar automation frameworks.
- Experience designing, executing, and maintaining automated test suites.
- Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience testing web applications, APIs, and third-party integrations.
- Experience using Postman or similar tools to validate REST APIs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
- Ability to investigate application behavior, reproduce defects, and document clear, actionable bug reports.
- Experience collaborating with developers to improve test coverage and software quality.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, pull requests, and Agile development practices.
- Ability to understand application behavior across frontend and backend systems.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- AI Tooling & Automation — RequiredHands-on experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent tools.
- Experience using AI tools to support test generation, test automation, test case development, or coverage analysis.
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated tests for correctness, meaningful assertions, and realistic test scenarios.
- Ability to identify hallucinated mocks, incorrect assumptions, and tests that would not detect actual regressions.
